In 2017 the program book cover featured the work of the award-winning artist, Elaine Lisle, through the generosity of Radclyff ‘Mike’ Thompson. Thus the beginning of the Regatta’s efforts to reach out to the art community and provide an opportunity for a local artist to show their work.  In June, the HOSR released an open call for artists to submit original work to be used for the cover of 2018 Regatta Keepsake Program Book.

Fourteen inspiring entries were received.  The review committee chose Cheryl Schlenker’s piece entitled STROKE.  The HOSR is pleased to present a detail of STROKE on the cover 2018 Program Book.

Cheryl Schlenker’s love of painting includes finding the surprising colors that exist in what is seen everyday, mixing media to enhance the individual properties to each one, and finding joy in compositions of contrast and color that go beyond subject matter.  Her works have been in several juried international exhibitions, and she has a signature membership in both the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.  She has won several awards from local art centers and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Water Color Society.

Congratulations, and thank you, Cheryl!

The HOSR will release a call for 2019 Program Book Cover art in June 2019.
