The 51st Head of the Schuylkill Regatta is dedicated in memory and celebration of Ted A. Nash: Rower, Olympian, Coach, Mentor and Friend.  All are welcome to join in the events throughout HOSR weekend. The weekend events will include dedicating in perpetuity an HOSR race in his name; race commentary by those who rowed with and/or were coached by Ted over his 70-years in the sport; tours of the Ted Nash Room at Penn AC, and a Saturday night (October 30th) reception/dinner celebration on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania where Ted coached from 1964 -1985.

Ted A. Nash Trophy

Awarded annually to the winning Mens and Womens Championship Fours with Coxswain. Ted A. Nash was a rower, Olympian, coach, mentor. and friend. He was a game-changing force in both mens and womens rowing. Ted is most closely associated with Fours, having won Olympic Gold and Bronze medals in the 4-. Coaching perennial powerhouse crews at the University of Pennsylvania and later Penn AC, he coached numerous mens and womens 4+ and 4- (and pairs) to National and International championships and Pan Am, World and Olympic medals. Ted’s contributions to American rowing and the lives of its rowers extend far beyond the Schuylkill River and Boathouse Row.

Evening Reception

Join friends, family and members of the rowing community on Saturday, October 30, 2021 to celebrate the life and legacy of Ted Nash. Beginning at 7pm, the event will take place on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Bodek Lounge at Houston Hall (3417 Spruce St, Philadelphia, PA 19104) and the adjacent outdoor tent located at Penn Commons. The formal program will begin at 8:45pm, light food and beverages will be available, and casual dress is recommended. We encourage all guests to bring any medals, racing shirts, or other reminders of Ted Nash.  Stop by any time or stay for the evening!  Kindly register below.
