How Long is the Race Course?

The 2.36 mile (3,800m) course will race downstream, finishing approximately 250 meters before the Sedgeley Lighthouse, the beginning of Boathouse Row.  The finish line will be marked by a tent located on the Kelly Drive side of the river and two large pyramidic buoys on the river itself.  There will be buoys marking both the starting chute and starting line. Rowers will pass under 4 bridges while racing along the Schuylkill River; pyramidic buoys will mark both sides of the arch rowers should utilize coming down the course.

Will the Head of the Schuylkill be USRowing sanctioned for the 2026 regatta?

After careful review, HOSR will continue as a USRowing-sanctioned regatta to uphold high standards of safety, competition, and fairness.

What is required for organizations to participate in the 2026 regatta as a USRowing sanctioned event?

US-based programs must either maintain a year-round USRowing Organizational Membership in good standing or obtain a USRowing Regatta Pass. Individual members of US-based organizations with either a USRowing Organizational Membership or Regatta Pass must be Basic Level USRowing Members.

  • Requirements for USRowing Organizational Membership found here
  • Athletes choosing to row as Unaffiliated must hold a Championship Level USRowing Membership.

If a team/club is not a member of USRowing, they may utilize the Regatta Pass option.

USRowing launched a new option for teams that are not USRowing organizational members looking to race at sanctioned regattas: Regatta Pass Lite. For $100, this pass will allow non-member organizations with insurance that meets USRowing’s requirements to participate in sanctioned regattas without committing to an annual membership.

The already available $250 Regatta Pass (including insurance) and the new $100 Regatta Pass Lite (which does not) serve as temporary organizational memberships. They are valid only for the duration of the specific USRowing-sanctioned regatta chosen at the time of purchase. Many teams—such as alumni crews at fall head races or scholastic and collegiate teams attending a handful of sanctioned regattas—already take advantage of Regatta Passes each year.

When can boat trailers arrive on site?

Boat trailers for Saturday races should arrive Friday, between Noon and 8:00pm.  Trailers for Sunday races should arrive on Saturday no earlier than 5:30PM, and no later than 8:00PM.  If arriving after 8pm, please advise. If arriving on Sunday morning, you must arrive between 6am-7am.

To comply with park policies and provide a safe environment, boat trailer parking is restricted to designated areas.  Boat trailers do not have assigned parking spots; upon arrival, you will be directed by our parking team to the next available space.  Tow trucks need to be removed from the trailer and parked in designated areas off the grass.  Please assist us in planning your arrival and stay by completing the short survey.

Do I need a permit for my food trailer/chuckwagon?

Chuck wagon permits must be purchased in advance to ensure entry onto Kelly Drive and a parking space. (Deadline to purchase a Chuck wagon permit is: October 20th). If you plan to have a chuck wagon on site both Saturday and Sunday, you must purchase permits for both days.

To order your Chuck wagon Permit please register below. A Chuck Wagon pass does not guarantee parking for the tow vehicle. Chuck wagon Permit will be emailed to address submitted on the registration form on October 22nd and will be on file at the entrance.

Saturday Chuckwagons will be permitted to enter on Friday after 4PM, no later than 8pm.  Sunday Chuckwagons may enter Saturday after 5:30PM, no later than 8pm.  All Chuck wagons must park diagonally on the river side of Kelly Drive as designated by parking staff. Tow vehicles must be removed from Kelly Drive to an off-site paid parking space or a space nearby if available.  No parking is allowed on the grass.

For information regarding tents, trailers, chuckwagons and more, go to www.hosr.org

Do I need to reserve a space for my team tent?

No, tent spaces are first-come, first-serve in designated area along the course.

What do I do if I lose something at the regatta during the day?
Lost and Found is located at the Information tent in the Three Angels Festival Area.  If you found something, please return to this location.
